When Turkish media is compared to International media, there surely are both differences and similarities between them.

Firstly, talking about the differences, I think there is a serious reliability issue which can be said against the Turkish media. Media’s, both visual and written, responsibility is to acknowlodge and inform the citizens about the national and worldwide news and also to do these as soon as possible as the life goes on and news can change day by day, or even hour by hour.

Talking about Turkish media, this responsibility seems to have changed a bit in a much different way. Now, instead of informing people, media is trying to affect people politically and socially. And looking at the international media, the main aim is to inform people about the facts and events which occur around the world. I think this is the main difference between these two different kinds of media, one forgets about the whole world and publish the news according to owner’s ideas and politicak thoughts, and another one tries to inform people in an objective way, by not praising the ministers or other politically related people.

Well, there are also similarities between them, as they both publish news about celebrities and post pictures about the people, whom the citizens are interested in their private lifes. I don’t think about giving specific examples, but some newspapers or TV channels do this in order to increase their sales numbers.

In Turkey, with the latest political and managerial changes, I think that media started to being controlled by these powerful positions.

Media, which contains newspapers, TV channels and magazines, has been in a process for many years in Turkey. For example, TV channels, which once began with sole one channel, are now easily reachable and there are a lots of them. As they are now easily reached by the citizens, of course it is a good idea for the political powers to use them as their way of communicating to make themselves more powerful and it is one thing that I really dislike. In my opinion, TV channels and newspapers should be used for their own purposes, such as informing the people about the news around the world. Once the media starts to publish news about these political powers, it gets untrusty and annoying.

What I really like nowadays about the media is, I can easily reach and watch international TV channels and also I can easily read international newspapers. Especially, international TV channels, which are mostly based in the United States of America, are really enjoyable. They help you to watch the games for a lot of different sports and learn about the worldwide news moment by moment.

Family is the first place where children get the chance to learn basic things, such as social or moral values, the world, maybe writing and reading. Parents try to teach their children the ideas which suit them best, they never think of teaching something else that they don’t believe or trust. This may lead to confusion and dilemma in children’s thoughts as they are always thought in a way that sole one thing is true, and others are not. As this kind of learning may lead to problems, parents have to teach their children in a more controlled and objective way.

They send their children to good schools, try to ensure that they get educated well and send them to good colleges as they want their children to be successful and happy in their own lives.

In a family, for example in most families in Turkey, man always had the authority. He was always thought to look after his wife and children, have a decent job, and bring money to his family. Of course this can be called as a prototype but it has been like this for many years. But, recently, we can observe that women can also have jobs and earn money and make living with this money.

My mother is a housewife and she deals with cooking, washing, cleaning stuff and with me and my sister who attends to a high school. As my mother married in a young age, maybe that’s why she never got a chance to work outside the home. Surely, my father sometimes tries to help her with the house work as he tries to go shopping in the weekends and helps my mother with setting the table. As being students, my sister and my responsibility is to work hard for our lessons and graduate from high school or college with success.

A family who lacks of respect and love, will be collapsing later as the members, even the mother and the father, has no respect or love or tolerance to one another.
